Pool.

Vivid blue liquid light
Flowing around me

Chemical taste of too-clean chlorine and
Nothing on my tongue

Spidery-bright luminescent lines
Dancing across smooth, pale walls

Soft and cool: perfect blue, suspending me in
Frozen motion

Ponderous tiny currents wandering
Thoughtfully along my skin and

Gentle rushing—in me all around me—muffled,
Bubbling splashes filling water-logged ears

Soft yellow domes, glowing softly and looking
Up at the warped night sky and my reflection,
Wavering on the mirrored surface of the moon.

So, I used to be on swim team. I've never really been all that good, or all that fast, which is why I kinda gave up competitive swimming. But the thing that always entrances me is the incredible calm isolation that overtakes you underwater. This is kinda about that. Yet another poem assigned by the amazing Mr. McMahon, who brings out the best in my creative writing, I swear.
